At the ring of midnight, the first spirit is the Ghost of Christmas Past. The spirit escorts grumpy Scrooge on a journey into the past to see the Christmas’ before. Scrooge revisits both happy and sad times from his childhood and apprenticeship. They finally revisit his engagement to a beautiful woman named Belle. Belle was engaged to Scrooge. Scrooge loved money more than Belle. Scrooge was deeply moved. He shed tears of regret before the spirit returned him to his bed. Scrooge hesitantly went back to sleep.
